A few good methods for doing this are:
The more organized you get the better!
- Create sizing stock ahead of time!
If you make your own sizing stock, It saves a ton of time to create it ahead of time. It can be really helpful to make it in sizes that reduce the time you spend cutting each piece.
- Batch process if you can!
The more you can batch process the faster it will go, Think about it like an assembly line. For instance you can set it up so that you do all of your soldering at once it will save you a tremendous amount of time!
- Make sure your shop flow makes sense!
If you go back to the way an assembly line flows, you want to organize your shop as much as possible, so that you can move easily from tool to tool. I know sometimes it is tough to do that in a small jewelry shop, but anything you can streamline can help. You don't want to waste too much time running back and forth between tools or having too many sales staff hanging around in the shop.
Anytime you can reduce the steps you take in your process you will save time. Be aware of steps you may not think about like the time spent figuring out what needs to be done or if you use a system that requires drawing out your pieces, perhaps creating a camera printing system can save time or eliminating steps in finishing.
